According to EU regulations: \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1\ufe0f 20% cobalt, 12% nickel, and 10% lithium and manganese in new LIBs must come from recycled sources. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2\ufe0f These measures can reduce GHG emissions by 7-42%, depending on the recycling method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3\ufe0f \u00a0Advanced techniques like direct recycling retain the original structure of materials, leading to maximum sustainability. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Europe\u2019s Circular Battery Scenario envisions a future where battery production primarily relies on recycled materials, minimizing environmental impact. It offers the highest reduction in GHG emissions (37-42%). <br>\u00a0<br>2\ufe0f Hydrometallurgical Recycling: Uses chemical processes to extract all major battery materials, including lithium. This technique significantly lowers GHG emissions (11-25%). \u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>3\ufe0f Pyrometallurgical Recycling: Uses high temperatures to extract metals like cobalt, nickel, and copper, but fails to recover lithium.
