 There are three primary methods for LIB recycling, each with its own impact on sustainability:  
 
1️ Direct Recycling: This method physically separates and preserves materials like graphite, aluminum, and copper, allowing them to be reused in new batteries. It offers the highest reduction in GHG emissions (37-42%).
 
2️ Hydrometallurgical Recycling: Uses chemical processes to extract all major battery materials, including lithium. This technique significantly lowers GHG emissions (11-25%).  
 
3️ Pyrometallurgical Recycling: Uses high temperatures to extract metals like cobalt, nickel, and copper, but fails to recover lithium. As a result, it offers the smallest reduction in emissions (7-20%).
